Efasma: Architectural Finesse
Posted on 24 October 2015
Launching their very first collection at 100% Design this year, Efasma clearly knows how to draw the crowd with their stunning collection of tables and chairs. Designed by London based architects Bureau de Change, the range features a luxurious combination of materials and finishes to create a simple and functional design with a characterful presence.
The brand's Greek origins play a key role in the manufacturing and development of these incredible designs. There is an embrace of traditional techniques and craftsmanship, using naturally occurring materials such as cotton and timber to give the range its high quality and unique style.
The angular forms of the chairs and tables creates a very striking form. The chairs connect to the table by triangular grooves cut into the table surface which allows for a compact design. The full range includes; a room divider, sofa, dining chairs with open and closed backs, stool, dining table in rectangular and octagonal options and a coffee table.
Efasma was a brand that stopped me in my tracks at 100% design. Their simple display highlighted the beauty of the product, the glossiness of the marble and the richness of the wood. I love the character added by cutting out triangular recesses into the table, adding character but also allowing the table to become compact. It is impressive to see such a strong launch of a collection from such a new company. Efasma are defiantly on my brands to watch list.
