Exclusive to Selfridges: LDF15
Posted on 13 September 2015
When it comes to exclusive modern design, forward thinking and taking on the unknown, Selfridges is the first place that I think of with these qualities at its heart. With this in mind, it was no surprise that the iconic department store would be taking centre stage in hosting an array of exclusive launches and events throughout the London Design Festival.
Alessi - Pulcina
Alessi will be launching their Pulcina espresso coffee maker, designed by Italian architect Michele De Lucchi and launched exclusively with the store for LDF. What I love about this design is that the form of the coffee maker has essentially been shaped by the function of the inside. By analysing what goes on inside a coffee maker and the ideal shape that each section should be, we are left with a very striking and undoubtedly iconic design.
Kvadrat / RAF Simons
A collaboration between icons. The Creative Director of Dior, Raf Simmons will be releasing a highly anticipated collection of home accessories with Kvadrat, the leading European manufacturer of design textiles. If that wasn't enough, there will be an exclusive Q&A session on 23rd September discussing the relationship between fashion and home with experts from the Sunday Times, Homes & Gardens, Living Ect and Skandium to help you make the most from the latest trends and designs.
A brand that detests the generic and bland, DarkroomLondon will be celebrating their birthday during LDF. To celebrate their milestone, Darkroom will be releasing five ranges of products to that celebrate what they know best, graphic contrasts, geometric forms and the simplicity of post modern design. A personal favourite being released are the hand dipped enamel plates as imaged above. This simple design is so striking by using two contrasting colours, a must buy for lovers of eye-catching modern design.
The Conran Shop
Undoubtedly one of the leading Home & Lifestyle stores in the word, The Conran Shop will be launching their new concession within the Selfridges home department just in time for LDF. To celebrate the joining of two trend setting brands, The Conran Shop will be releasing two exclusives, the Otis and Eleanor bongo speaker and the Bottletop Lisa Tote fabric bag. Two striking and fun styles that you would expect from two greats in fashion and home.
Joseph & Joseph - M-Cuisine
The microwave revolution. I recently discovered an interesting fact that over 80% of households own a microwave. Whilst they may own a microwave, most households do not have products designed specifically for them, this is where Joseph & Joseph have come to the rescue! The M-Cuisine collection is a range of innovative products designed to help you make more from your microwave. From a steamer basket for vegetables to a griddle to cook bacon, each item fits perfectly together for minimal storage.
Whilst it is important to have a home that looks and feels good, it is also important to look and feel good in your own home. I wanted to finish with some fantastic and exclusive products that are designed to make you feel good. Haeckles is a brand centred around hand crafted products, using the very best ingredients from the surrounding coast. I love everything about these products from the ingredients to the stunning packaging, there is such a beautiful presentation that is sure to add luxury and fresh scent to your washroom.
