This year's Clerkenwell Design Week has started in style with a walking tour of the pavilions and exhibition spaces to mark the opening of the design week and promote the new layout and walking route. The sun was shining and the crowds were in full force to see the highly anticipated Museum of Making, Tom Dixon's "The Church" lighting display and the KakFolley just to name a few of the hundreds of displays, brands and workshops planned for the week.

One of my favorite discoveries for the day were the mesmerising tile billboard displays from Giles Miller Studio, sponsored by Brisith Ceramic Tile. As you can see below, the colours reflecting in the daylight and sun look fantastic, changing with the weather and directing the public to the next exhibition spaces with its elegant flowing movement of the design. The sculptures have been produced in collaboration with British Ceramic Tile, who are celebrating the launch of their new London Hub in Clerkenwell during the festival.

The next stop was to St. James's Church Garden to discover what designs were on display, nestled between the trees and foliage. The beautiful backdrop of the gardens played host to The Future of Design Pavilion (image below bottom left), designed by GCSE students becoming CDW's first education and community project helping to inspire young people and promote creative industry careers.

Other projects and designs to look out for in and around the gardens are Loll Designs by Surface Matter, a collection of bright and poppy garden furniture to entice the public to sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Additions, a dedicated space to exhibit small design pieces and interior accessories. Project is the space for leading international brands to exhibit their products and latest collections and finally, the extremely popular display from Tom Dixon titled "The Church" displaying some of Dixon's finest lighting displays.
