Lee Broom: Opticality

During the London Design Festival, Lee Broom celebrated the retail launch of his incredible new Optical lighting collection. With the huge success of his Milan tour recently featured on a recent post, Broom has transformed his London showroom into a postmodern Op Art experience called "Opticality" where visitors will be able to walk into a mirrored space for an immersive experience.

Designs have been  inspired by Op Art during the 1960's. Optical embraces the iconic monochrome graphics of the era, applying them in a modern linear pattern that has suddenly been interrupted, almost as it has been sliced at an angle. This simple yet effective interruption of flow allows the design to change when viewed at different angles.

The Op Art pattern has been transferred onto the flooring, unifying the style of the space, adding direction into the installation itself. Clad in floor to ceiling mirrors on either side, with one applied to a faux archway at the end, the room appears to extend on into the distance, an optical illusion that fills the space with thousands of pendant lights, creating a mesmerising experience.

The Opticality installation ran between 21-25th September for the London Design Festival. The Optical collection currently consists of three models: The Optical Pendant Light, Floor Lamp and Table Lamp. For further details on other Lee Broom brand, products of showroom, visit the official Lee Broom website. It was such a pleasure to be able to experience the installation first hand and interact with the space. Yet again, Broom launches another incredible collection to his ever growing, impressive portfolio. With each new product release, it never ceases to amaze me and the skill, evolution and expression seen within his designs. If this is the start of the journey, I cannot wait to see which direction the brand will take next.
