London Design Week: The Launch Party
Posted on 17 March 2017
To celebrate a highly successful day of events, the Chelsea Design Centre launches the London Design Festival in the only way it knows how, in style. The centre has outdone itself with one of the best themes I have seen. The domes were transformed into green wildernesses complete with jungle style acrobatic entertainment and dancers, even some people dressed as trees and jungle foliage. Whilst some people may look at the event as just a party, to me, it was a brilliant place to meet and socialise with some of my favorite brands and the people that are associated with them. The personality behind the design centre itself.
The evening events also highlighted some of the key installations on display in the domes including Newton's Cradle (top images) where science has been combined with floral beauty, designed by Larry Walshe as an aerial installation of botanical plants, inspired by Newton’s investigations into momentum. Another installation, Tiger, Tiger, located by the spiral staircase is a beautiful white tiger that has been hand painted and flocked, surrounded by beautiful botanicals.
After the event, it was time to go home and prepare myself for another day of design.
