Provasi: Living The Classic
Posted on 30 March 2017
During my visit to Salone del Mobile last year, a brand that immediately caught my attention was Provasi. Intriguedegued by their unique combination contemporary and traditional styles, set against a backdrop of striking patterns and vivid colours, I had to visit the stand to find out more. Provasi pride themselves as a luxury Italian brand that has the ability to look to the future whilst taking inspiration from the past. This philosophy has enabled the brand to draw audiences and admirers from across the globe, in a multitude of backgrounds. As Provasi prepares for another incredible presentation at the 2017 Milan exhibition, I wanted to share my favourite four collections that represent the diversity and unique design talent showcased last year.
From embroideries and inlays to small singular items that are used on a daily basis, every design and creation reflects the artisan tradition. Soft pastel mint upholstery set against empowering gold finishes and rich dark wood, this styled space was the collection I was first drawn to and feel that it perfectly represents where interior design is going. For too long, Interior Design had been safe, soft and subtle. Finally, designs are becoming adventurous and expressive. Layering has had a huge part to play in this and as many of you will agree, the above setting looks impressive, combining contemporary patterns with traditional embroideries and vivid colouring.
Intricate craftsmanship, exquisite materials, and fine detailing create the finished pieces of furniture that so many of us have come to admire. Soft natural tones sit against glimmering golds in a space that projects opulence and charm. Two items within the space that I immediately fell in love with are the central octagonal coffee table with crystal inlay and the chest of drawers with marble top. The level of detail within each design has to be seen to truly be appreciated. The coffee table not only has impressive woodwork detail, it also comes with an automatic mechanism, that reveals a drinks cabinet concealed within the centre of the table. If that is not enough to impress guests, the sideboard with marble top and intricate marquetry detailing will leave them speechless.
Vibrant colours and mesmerising patterns, set against a dark backdrop to further enhance the design. The cigar room has to be the most adventurous space, challenging people's perceptions about combining traditional and contemporary styles together. The dark and mysterious setting allows each furniture piece to stand individually whilst also working as a collective. My favourite piece has to be the Manhattan armchair, with its alluring green and black floral upholstery. The chair's presence attracts attention, bridging the gap between the trafitional and contemporary.
The Dali bed, an icon of craftsmanship and quality for the brand is a work of art in itself. Everything from the finely carved wooden base to the elegant shape of the upholstered headboard are the highest levels of luxury. The styled room itself continues the trend of mixing the contemporary with the traditional and this even works with the art, displaying a series of abstract oil paintings in shades of green alongside an incredible printed tapastry, depicting a tropical paradise, including exotic flowers, foliage and two colourful parrots.
Provasi will be exhibiting their latest collection at this year's Salone del Mobile in Milan at Hall 4, Stand A21 B14. For further details on the brand, click to view the official Provasi website.
