Cox London: Pimlico Road Party
Posted on July 03 2018
During the Pimlico Road Summer Party, Cox London launched the temporary exhibition 'Rare Textile Art'.
The Pimlico Road Summer Party is a time where local brands get together and open their showrooms for a Summer's evening, allowing guests and business owners to socialise and appreciate the beauty of the design world. Many showrooms host parties, drinks events and even workshops for visitors to enjoy. This year, Cox London hosted a temporary exhibition 'Rare Textile Art' in their showroom, showcasing intricate handcrafted textile designs with fascinating backstories of their creation.
The textiles; many of them woven by hand in a tradition to celebrate a bride's wedding day, have been attached to white canvases and hung on the wall. This way of displaying the beautiful patterns acknowledges the impressive craft and talent that has gone into each piece, recognising them as works of art. While many of the textiles would have been placed into storage out of sight after a wedding day, the exhibition brings to light an impressive craft for the world to see and appreciate. The wide varieties of patterns, shapes and colours on display in the showroom reveal just a snippet acquired by the collector, giving an insight into the cultures, traditions and uses for the textiles.
The Cox London showroom, located at 194 Ebury St, Belgravia, is always a treasure trove of design, transforming with every new piece and display created. Designed by sculptor and artisans Christopher and Nicola Cox, the brand regularly hosts and showcases exhibitions, collaborations and talks for guests to immerse themselves in the world of luxury design.
