Habitat AW16 Collection Preview
Posted on August 24 2016
With Summer finally making an appearance, basking the country in beautiful sunshine, it is quite difficult to grasp that the Autumn season has been in fast approach, starting in only a few weeks time. With this in mind, I thought it was time to preview the Autumn / Winter collection from Habitat, released in stores now. Transferring a little slice of Summer fun into the new collection, you can see vibrant colours, fun paint splatters inspired by the Jackson Pollock exhibition in Milan and a range of beautiful materials to add beauty and vibrancy to your home.
This collection goes against the grain and traditional outlook that we usually see with Autumn / Winter seasons where they emphase darker tones, showcasing the dark side of Winter. Habitat have instead showcased hand-made crafts, vibrant playful prints alongside a beautiful collection of fabrics that are all about touching and feeling for that added comfort to the home.
Lighting has to be one of the most striking additions to this season's collection, going bold and black, displaying beautiful sculptural caged designs that add an artistic flair to a space. I love the incorporation of exposed light bulbs within these designs, allowing for the use of creative "beautiful" bulbs such as Plumen or vintage filament light bulbs that help create a custom and unique style.
Travel has continued to inspire the designs for this collection and it can be seen at its strongest within the ceramics collection of vases and tableware. Hand made items have had a dramatic rise in popularity over the last few years with design lovers eagerly searching for unique items that display true character and personality. The AW16 collection demonstrates the beauty and importance of craftsmanship, bringing it into the home for us all to admire.
