LINLEY: Store Relaunch
Posted on 23 September 2016
For anyone familiar with the LINLEY store on Pimlico Road, chances are that you have already noticed a dramatic change in appearance as the store sheds its old skin, ready to show off its new. Within the space, the store has gone under a massive renovation, removing wooden paneling, carpets and staircases, replacing them with exposed concrete finishes, clean white lines and contemporary finishes. The outside of the store has changed too. What once contained the bold LINLEY logo set against that iconic bright green paint has now been replaced by a classic and refrained silver and navy blue facade.
In true LINLEY style, the store could not reopen without a massive party and celebration to welcome guests into the new look home of luxury. Before the party got into full swing, I had the opportunity to explore the new look store and disover what will be waiting for visitors next time they visit.
What I have always loved about the LINLEY brand is their willingness to develop, constantly evolving, releasing news styles and designs that embrace traditional craft and techniques, yet push the boundaries of contemporary living. Finally, the brand has a store to match.
The traditional details such as the varnished wooden panels and built in units have been removed, replaced with black metal framed shelving and concrete topped units. The new furniture opens up the space, connecting styles to one another rather than framing them individually as they did before. The walls have been painted white and the ceiling stripped back as to secure focus on the product designs without any obstruction. Down the now single set of stairs in the the central room, a space has been opened up to display rotating collections of artwork from a diverse range of artists and sculptures, ensuring that there is always something new going on in store.
Divided into "rooms", each section groups related objects together such as arts, crafts and decorative items on display in the front left room whilst large furniture designs, luxury accessories and vintage items such as cameras and photography can be found in the centre room. The biggest surprise can be found in the back left room, now a fully working kitchen that can also be used during events to prepare food and showcase cocktail making.
