Moooi: Perch Light, Umut Yamac

Posted on 23 March 2017

Showcasing his work with Moooi at Salone Del Mobile, Milan last year, Umut Yamac has finally brought his incredible Perch Light designs over to the UK for their eagerly awaited release. In celebration of the launch, Moooi hosted an event at their London flagship showroom with a host of guests, music and an interview on stage with Yamac himself. Discussing the intricacies and inspiration behind the designs, guests were able to understand the breakdown of the product and its connection to both a formal and playful world.

The Perch collection consists of a bespoke folded origami bird, available in two sizes and internally lit by LED. The beautiful brass coloured metal detailing acts as a counter balance for the bird as it elegantly sways backwards and forwards on its perch, either from the playful interaction of touch or the movement of air across a room. The birds can be mounted to a range of 'perches' enabling them to fit into the home in a multitude of different ways.

The 'perches' are available in floor, table and wall light variations, each holding one bird at a time. If you have the space and are looking to create a striking feature, an additional light branch is available which can hold up to five birds at a time. Staying true to the impressive innovation of the Moooi brand, the bird's feet act as the conductor for the internal lighting, meaning that there is more freedom of movement for the design and it will automatically switch off if the bird is removed from its perch (via a simple mechanism)
