Neptune AW16 Collection Preview
Posted on 14 November 2016
During the busiest preview day of the year, and what turned out to be one of the hottest too, many brands showcase their beautiful new collections and season trends for the months ahead. With so many inspirational designers to see throughout the day, it was the Neptune Autumn Winter preview collection that surprised me the most. The collection had been set up at a showroom on Conway Street, London and was incredible from top to bottom. Whilst there was a touch of Christmas, this showroom really emphasised the beauty of the seasons with elegant colours, soft furnishings and the perfect mix of contemporary rustic style.
The temporary showroom was set out across three floors, making use of every space in the best possible way. The floors were divided into living areas covering painting and upholstery on the ground floor, living and bedroom on the first and kitchen and dining on the second. It was the styling however that brought the products and designs to life, making it feel like visitors were walking around a beautifully accessoried home, discovering how the collections should be displayed next to one another. The visual merchandising team should be proud as it made me want to purchase everything in sight.
Something that really catches my eye with this brand is that everything feels so personal. Designs have not been changed for the sake of it, the collection works so well because it feels as if it has already been experienced, loved and used before it has gone into production. There is the perfect mix of contemporary and rustic style, keeping designs new and fresh whilst maintaining that homely country retreate style that so many of us love. Personal favourites of mine are the glassware and candle accessories, so much so that I am now the proud owner of two storm vases that create a prominent feature on my dining room table, a perfect example of how easy it is to incorporate a rustic style into a contemporary home.
As you can see from the photographs of the preview, the entirety of the space is incredibly beautiful and works so well. An area in particular that was drawing much of the attention was the bedroom, utilising a compact space with characterful furniture designs and warming injections of bold colours such as the Mustard paint on the back paneling and Blakeney Blue paint on the plasterwork to create a generally daring design that works unbelievably well with the mirroring touches of colour across the upholstery and accessories on display.
