Visiting the Roll & Hill showroom in New York to explore the exciting collaborations and unique lighting fixtures on display.

After speaking with design lovers and locals of New York's iconic SoHo district, a showroom that came with strong recommendation was Roll & Hill. Located on Mercer Street, this exciting brand founded by Jason Miller in 2010 has collaborated with exciting and independent designers to create impressive lighting designs that exhibit unique and characterful characteristics. The perfect additions to any contemporary interior looking to create that wow factor. After the recommendations, it was time to explore the showroom for myself.

Set out over three floors, spaces in the showroom had been styled to a particular look, showcasing each of the lighting designs in its own special way. With so many incredible products on display, I wanted to share with you a select few of my favourite design collection discoveries during my visit. Immediately attracting visitors attention as they make their way into the showroom was the gorgeous 'Agnes' fourteen light chandelier in a brushed brass finish (second image from the top). This beautiful design appeared to balance with ease on one singular wire, splitting in a similar fashion to a tree branch, each finishing with an intricate opaque tube, a flourishing tribute and a mesmerising design. The light is available in eight other shape variations from two arm pendant to a cascade of twenty lights in flowing motion.

Suspended in the corner of the room, next to a vintage leather armchair and circular marble table was the 'Maxhedron' pendant light (top image directly above). Bec Brittain's Maxhedron is a study in material transformation through light and reflection and when switched off, the partly-translucent finish reflects and blends with its environment. Once turned on, the dazzling inner constellation of bulbs projects bands of light onto nearby surfaces in an almost hypnotic fashion. The Maxhedron design is also available in multiple variations including surface finishes, sizes and angles for a truly bespoke creation.

My final choice is a creation that I discovered through a piece of photography work first, cleverly reflecting back the design in itself as seen in the top image directly above. "Cora' is an abstract pendant light consisting of multiple square tubes suspended at different heights. The tubes have been cut to a curve on the underside revealing a warming light shining from within; available in two and eight light variations.

It is clear to see why the Roll & Hill showroom comes highly recommend. Its artistic approach makes the showroom feel like a luxurious gallery, its lights on display the artwork that people come to admire. As one of my highlights from my design trip, I look forward to returning to the brand in the near future to explore their latest collaborations and beautiful pieces on display.
