Salone del Mobile 2016: Part I
Posted on 21 May 2016
April was an incredibly exciting month with so much going on, it was also my first ever visit to Milan to discover the luxury designs and amazing brands on display at Salone Del Mobile. With such a short time and an overwhelming amount of brands and designers to get through, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite discoveries from the exhibition. I cannot wait to feature many of them in the future and am already planning my next visit to this stunning Italian city.
There was such a diverse mix of products and designers across the enormous show, ranging from traditional luxury and craftsmanship to innovative and modern design. Gold and brass continues to dominate the markets, reaffirming that it is still the most in demand finish and colour across the interior design and it looks like it will stay that way for quite some time. All major brands have appear to have incorporated the brass / gold style into some of their designs from gold leaf detail across to matt brass contemporary finishes.
It was no surprise that glass and crystal were also prominent throughout the furniture fair, covering everything from lighting pendants and candle holders to vases and table accessories. Lighting and glassware are a few personal favourite areas of mine and as you can see from some of the images above and in part two, these designers really do know how to showcase their designs to the fullest potential.
Mariner (at the top of the article) was an interesting discovery for me. I love the combination if classic luxury with a contemporary mix in style. The finest details had not been missed out such as the pattern and design on the bottom of the chairs, a perfect example of luxury as its best. In contrast of style, Bonaldo was another brand that stood out to me. Clean modern designs using beautiful materials and quality finishes. I have had such a fantastic response from from the wire tables, adding a creative and eye catching feature to a space.
