Ted Baker AW17 Collection Preview
Posted on August 01 2017
What's better than previewing the latest designs at Ted Baker? Having lunch with the design team whilst doing it of course!
Ted Baker launched their Autumn / Winter 2017 collection in style, with a very big twist. Hosting in the penthouse suite of the London Edition hotel, the brand showcased everything from designer sunglasses and watches to teacups and plush throws. Whats more, the preview was enjoyed as a sit down meal, giving guests the opportunity to get to know the team and understand the collections in detail, amongst the delicious foods and insightful conversation.
With a plethora of new designs spanning everything from fashionware to fragrance, home, and even cycling, I could not possibly talk about every release from this impressive collection, instead, here are a few of my favourite designs on display at this season's impressive preview. When it comes to fashion, I have always admired and owned many Ted Baker scarfs. This season does not disappoint, with beautiful sort materials in simple warm tones, adding a clean and sophisticated look to the contemporary man. The collection of men's watches was also a crowd pleaser, showcasing a range of classic faces paired with luxurious leathers in iconic Ted Baker colouring.
Moving into home and Ted has everything covered to live the life of luxury. The focus of everyone's attention was with the brand new collection of rugs, artistic designs in rich hues, transferring art from the walls onto the floors in a series of bold patterns and styles. A personal favourite of mine has to be the Sazzia rug, a large hand tufted mosaic rug with a striking abstract pattern and mesmerising amount of colours. Anyone that knows me will also understand my obsession with crockery and teaware. This season, the brand has introduced sets of floral crockery and teaware designs, including the most impressive tall teapot that I have ever seen, plus a contemporary take on that much loved Moroccan design.
For those connected to the great outdoors, the roof terrace had some very special designs on display, a collaboration with Quella, launching three Ted Baker bicycles in green, red and blue finishes. A modern take on the Italian classic, combining Quella's British craftsmanship with Ted Baker's eye for style, the bike designs will be appreciated by even the most inexperienced of cyclists, even those looking to purchase a very abstract and functional work of art. The roof terrace also showcased the latest in sports fashion, perfect for the serious cyclist of those simply for comfortable and great looking activewear. Set against the backdrop of a very sunny London skyline, the displays couldn't have looked better if they had tried to.
As mentioned previously, this was no ordinary collection preview and it gave guests the opportunity to sit down for a delicious lunch full of culinary classics and chat with the team responsible for putting the season's collection together. This is a concept that I hope other brands take note. Rather than being forced into a gallery setting where visitors admire new designs from afar in a clinical setting, items were grouped together in a spacious penthouse to help guests discover their areas of interests. Rather than having a limited time to take a few photos and chat with a representative, designs were discussed with one another across the table, not only helping the Ted Baker team to establish the season's popular items but helping press discover what the thoughts and themes were from the press themselves.
It was a wonderful afternoon and I would love to thank the Ted Baker team for having me. The collections lived up to strong Ted expectations and were as ever full of character and charm. It never ceases to amaze me just how diverse one brand can be, applying their fun will and excitement onto every aspect of design, from luggage cases tableware sets.
