Leica collaborates with the Royal Opera House in London to release special edition luxurious opera glasses for an immersive experience.

Famed for their high-quality cameras and lenses, Leica collaborates with the Royal Opera House in London to release special edition opera glasses in an exclusive limited quantity. Perfect for the ultimate fans of opera and ballet, the luxurious glasses will allow users to experience a performance up close and personal in the highest quality. In celebration of the launch, I had the pleasure of visiting the Royal Opera House with the brand to tour backstage and watch a performance of Semiramide to experience the Ultravid 8x20 glasses for myself.

Designed to be discreet and light, each set has been handmade to the highest standards, using the finest materials. Clad in leather that matches the iconic Royal Opera House red, the glasses can be elegantly stowed in the black leather case, adorning the Royal Opera House crest on its soft lining. A design that feels as great as it looks, these glasses really do have to be experienced to understand their full potential. Watching the performance, the glasses were light and easy to focus, exposing every fine detail from the expressions of the performer's faces to the detail of their extravagant outfits and the beautiful surrounding scenery. These are distinctive opera glasses that are sure to transform the opera experience, setting a standard and becoming another highly sought-after collector's item in the future.

The experience was completed by a tour backstage of the costume department, orchestra pit, ballet studios and of course, the Royal Box. Having the opportunity to understand and explore a side of the performance and the opera house that most people do not get to see, created a truly unforgettable experience that made the performance all the more magical and impressive.

The Royal Opera House shared the workings and journey backstage whilst Leica allowed me to see the detail and drama onstage. Two iconic names that could not be more suited to one another. As this new collaboration flourishes, I cannot wait to witness how it continues to evolve in the future.
