Interior Styling: The Style Rooms
For this year's House Fair and Spirit of Summer exhibitions, Martyn White Designs was invited to style an inspiration space focusing around the theme of Summer. Titled "Summer Purity" The bedroom has a minimalist, monochrome feel with an injection of vibrant green to add character and seasonal feel. All items were sourced from brands exhibiting to add a connection to the show whilst inspiring visitors to shop the look.
The design was inspired by a personal feeling and reminder of Summer. The moment in time when you can open your doors and windows, allowing the fresh breeze pass through your home. I have visualised this feeling by displaying the characterful furniture pieces against a white backdrop, giving the sense of space and calm whilst focusing the eye on areas within the room.
The room has essentially been divided into four areas to create seperate focal points that all support one another. The bed and chest are the main feature, accompanied by two matching side tables and lamps which all sit on the green rug to create a soft and welcoming space to feel comfortable and cosy in. The second area is the sideboard, butterfly artwork and accessories, adding a characterful display that can easily be changed.
At the very front of the room is the cosy arm chair and storage trunk that acts as a perfect side table for accessories or a place to rest your drink as you sit back and relax. Our forth and final area has been designated as the preparation space, grouping the chest of drawers for storage with a large portrait mirror and modern black stool to help you get ready. All four segments are designed to contribute different elements to the bedroom whilst working harmoniously together.
