Designed Magazine: Issue 3 - Autumn / Winter 2017

The Autumn/Winter issue of Designed Magazine looks on the bright side, with our Talisman Circus shoot photographed in the famed London emporium.

Paco Rabanne curtains, a Paul Evans mirrored bed, two Bustamante giraffes, a horse-dog, a pair of large metal doors with an arc of coloured spun glass lights, and a very tall sculpture are all brought to life by The Girl with Candyfloss Hair, The Seal, The Lion Tamer, The Acrobat, The Not Very Strongman, The Ringmaster, and The Boy on Stilts with his red flower nose.

More escapism comes with the magically immersive restaurant and bar designs of Hong Kong design duo Ed Ng and Terence Ngan, their alchemy of light and material making glass appear like rain and metal like the night sky. In another of our designer profiles, we trace the passionate precision of David Collins Studio, from the seminal Lutyens-inspired Blue Bar at the Berkeley, through the delicious liquid caramel of Claridge’s Bar, to the calm lilac penthouse at The Connaught.

Our Behind the Brand features have a distinctly French flavour in this issue. The illustrations by René Gruau may seem more familiar than his name, so read about his illustrious life creating images for Dior, Givenchy and many more iconic fashion houses. And don’t miss the story of diptyque, whose fragrances have all been created to honour the memories of the founding trio.
